
Einstein's famous celebrated theory, Special Relativity suggests a very important and disappointing rule of nature that nothing, not even information, can travel faster than the speed of light. It has disappointed many science fiction writers and me, for one, am very distraught over it for I've always been fascinated by Time Travel. But is this rule entirely true ? Can it be violated sometimes ?
Maybe, for just consider this thought experiment of ours:
A person, X, from the present, found out the details of the birth of his grandpa. He was a sucidal maniac and wished not only to die, but to die in the grandest manner. He worked, for the rest of his life on a machine which would help him do it, the Time Machine. He then got into it and went back to the time of his grandpa's birth. He went to the place, so hospital, took out the hi-tech bomb from his bag and kept it there, set the timer and got back into his Time Machine. But his time machine was no ordinary. He went to the nearest wormhole and then traveled to another corner of that universe, billions and billions of light years away from the hospital. Now, he simply waited in his machine for another 5 minutes and then BOOM !!!! .....
Billions and billions of light years away, a super-powerful bomb went off. Now come the question :
" What will happen to X ? "...
Will he have to wait billions and billions of years, till the 'information waves' from the blast scene get to him and he dies because of it, long before which he will probably die a natural death. Or will he die instantly? It surely seems more perfect to think think that he would die instantly for without his granpa, even being able to get out of the hospital after his birth, how could X have come to existence.(Besides the transition from the actual parallel universe to the other one would become instantaneous). If the latter is the case, Einstein's theory has simply been VIOLATED. Or at least that is what we think. Though we are not sure, it surely seems more sensible that X will die instantaneously rather than billions and billions of years later.

Assumption of the parallel universe theory to be correct.Its not even really funny.
But just to humour the poor author for a minute, i shall assume every thing that he thinks and assumes to be correct, and just sort out this "puzzle for him".
Mr X travels to his grandfather's birth time.
This obviously has to be in a parallel universe .
Blows his greatgrandma to shreads before grandpa was both, and runs far away to aviod being killed by the explosion himself (though he wanted to commit suicide, but hey this is a thought experiment).
And now we're wondering if he died a natural death expecting to wait for a billion years or instantaneously.
Now the issue here is that "parallel universes" like parallel lines do not intersect. You may hop from one to another in a fancy time machine cum space shuttle, but you're in one place at one time.
So when Mr Smartie pants blows up his great grandma, all he does is to ensure that he never exists in this parallel universe.
Mr X from the original universe (ours ) continues to exist, since his grandpa, in this universe was born, and indeed mated successfully to give birth to his father/ mother, who futher mated unsuccessfully to produce the sucidal maniac.
So Mr X dies in the natural course, not instantaneously.
And even if he was put into a state of suspended animation, to wait for a billion years, the "information wave" would never hit him. Cause there is no such thing looking for
him hiding a billion light years away -- Since the person blown up was the ancestor of the to be suicidal maniac Mr X in the parallel universe, it really had nothing to do with our own Mr X. So nothing to inform him about. Hence no information wave.
In conclusion this thought(less) experiment has nothing to do with anything going faster than the speed of light.
